"Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make in it rooms (stalls, pens, coops, nests, cages, compartments) and coat it inside and out with pitch (bitumen). This is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits (450' x 75' x 45'). You shall make a window [for light and ventilation] for the ark, and finish it to a least a cubit {eighteen inches} from the top-and set the {entry} door of the ark in its side; and you shall make it with the lower, second and third decks." Genesis 6: 14-16 amp
While staying in Dry Ridge, KY we had the blessing of visiting the Ark Encounter. It was a very good trip because two of Suki's siblings, Bryanna and Zac, and one of her cousin's, came to KY from Alabama to go with us! It was such an amazing experience. I remember as a young child going to the doctor and there would always be one of those children's Bible story books in the waiting area. Do you remember them? They were the big thick blue ones. The story of Noah's Ark was always one of my favorite because of the animals. Once I was an adult and had children of my own, those same story books would be in the waiting rooms of their pediatrician's office. I remember reading the stories to my kids. Almost everyone knows the story of Noah's Ark, even if they've never been to church or Sunday school. I hope that you enjoy our experience.
I was in awe at how big it was. I think of how amazed the people on the earth in Noah's days must have been. Because seeing big buildings, or cruise ships, etc, aren't uncommon for us today. Yes, they are massive and I'm amazed when I see them. So imagine what the people on earth must have thought upon completion of the ark then. They for sure had never seen anything like this!

The Ark Encounter is located in Williamstown, KY in Grant County. It is half way between Lexington, KY and Cincinnati, OH. The dimensions of the ark replica is full sized and based on the bible as stated in the book of Genesis. It is a massive 510 feet long, 85 feet wide and 51 feed high!! Can you imagine what that must have looked like back then?
It was announced in 2010 by the group Answers in Genesis (AiG) along with Ark Encounter LLC that they planned to build "Ark Encounter". The claim was that the Ark Encounter would be a theme park attraction that would describe the disastrous flood as told in the Bible.
"For behold, I, even I, will bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy all life under the heavens in which there is the breath and spirit of life; everything that is on the land..... " Genesis 6:17 amp
There was also hope of ridding any doubts that Noah would have been able to fit all of the animals into the ark.
"And of every living thing [found on land], you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of fowls and birds according to their kind, of animals according to their kind, of every crawling thing of the ground according to its kind--two of every kind shall come to you to keep them alive." Genesis 6:19-20 amp
The theme park was planned to be built in phases beginning with the Ark in 2013. Opening day was strategically planned for July 7 (7:7) of 2016. That date was chosen specifically to go along with the book of Genesis.

It was such an amazing opportunity for us to visit. The detail inside was unreal. We are so blessed that we were able to experience the Ark Encounter. It was beautiful and again, even for someone that has never been to church, it is worth the drive to KY to visit.
As our daughter said, "Well done Noah, well done."
